Travelling means the world

Adventure is second nature to Anna Heupel, Timo Kilian, and their dog, Fips. They have followed their heart, traveling across 40 countries, creating memories in nature, and being fascinated with all the situations life creates. Assisted on their way with the added comfort of a Dometic Perfect Wall PW1100 Awning and CFX cooler. In fact, their Volkswagen T4 bus is so well equipped with Dometic electrical gear – inverters, batteries and chargers – that it’s more like a space shuttle!

 
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?

I am a professional photographer and I’ve been self-employed since 2013, while Timo is a freelance wood crafter.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

We are from the middle of Germany but have a base in Sweden.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE A DOMETIC AMBASSADOR?

For me, it is a dream come true. Dometic is much more than the van life trend. They always have new ideas, systems, and products for everything around mobile living and being outdoors. It’s great to work with such a forward-thinking company.

 
WHAT DOMETIC GEAR DO YOU HAVE? AND HOW HAS IT HELPED YOU?

We have a lot of chargers, converters, batteries, and storage devices. We joke the van has turned into a space shuttle! This equipment gives us the power we need and helps us save energy while driving.

The CFX cooler has upgraded our life on the road. And the Dometic Perfect Wall PW1100 ⁠Awning⁠ enables us to cook outside when it’s raining or get some shade in the heat of summer.

WHAT IS ONE PRODUCT WE DON’T HAVE THAT YOU WISH WE MADE?

A bicycle rack or storage for our climbing essentials, haha!

 
WHO/WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START TRAVELING?

Interesting question! I’d say it’s my insatiable thirst to capture new moments with my camera. I am inspired by life and traveling, especially with a car, which makes it easier to be independent and find new places.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT DOING WHAT YOU DO?

Being able to combine my passion with my interests. That's why I love photography so much. I can go climbing with friends or go out with my dog and be able to create memories and nature shots. I can also live my passion and put creativity into my daily life.

 
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM TRIP?

Driving with our van through Russia and Mongolia, as we think there is a lot of untouched nature and wilderness there.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE LOOKING TO START A SIMILAR LIFESTYLE?

Just start, but only if your heart is truly burning for it. It always looks nice on social media, but that's not how it works in reality. If you want to do it because you love it, it is right; if you want to do it because you want to be cool or make money, it will not last long.

Anna is a professional photographer. She loves to create pictures around life, especially during road trips and climbing trips. Inspired by life, she wants to capture all its beauty with her camera.

Timo is a freelancer who loves woodwork, fishing, and nature. In 2019, Timo and Anna bought a house together in remote, central Sweden. They are currently fixing the house up into a creative space to share with friends from Germany.
